The walking tour will follow a trail known as the Cami de Ronda which follows the ocean through hidden Calas, jagged cliffs and into forests that sweep down close to the sea. We have designed the best walking tour that will allow you to see our favourite beaches, fishing villages and medieval towns. The tour will allow you to walk at your own pace, sampling seafood in restaurants in villages such as Calella de Palafrugell or discovering hidden coves like Cala Estreta. ITINERARY

  • A representative from One Life Hike It, will collect you from Girona Airport or Train Station and transport you 45 minutes to S’Agaro Hotel (https://www.sagarohotel.com/) which sits next to Platja de Sant Pol, our local beach from where we live. You’ll have options to eat at the hotel or take a short down to the beach in Sant Pol where we will recommend some good places to eat.

  • DescriptiToday will be your first day walking and from starting you will find roman ruins along the trail dating from the 1st-4th Centuries AD. You will pass a beautiful beach called Cala Sa Conca which is a nice spot for a short rest, then around the port where you will come to Platja d'Aro which is a large touristy town. Your second nights stay will be at Park Hotel Sant Jorge & Spa (https://www.parkhotelsanjorge.com/en/) which is on the other side of Platja d'Aro, which is more quieter but still allows you to walk into the main town if desired for lunch and evening meal. The hotel is situated above one of our favourite beaches, Cala Cap Roig, with direct access to the beach. This section of the Costa Brava is one of my favourites and includes another stunning beach called Cala Del Pi. The beach also has obtained the Compromís Tourism Quality and Blue Flag awards.

  • Todays walk will be a bit longer with a lunch stop in the town of Palamos, which is the main fishing ports of Catalonia and the shellfish and its famous prawn are renowned throughout the area. After Palamos you will come into Castell-Cap Roig natural area, the most symbolic protected environments on the Costa Brava where it is forbidden to build. Here you’ll discover remains of Iberian Settlements, the protected fishing hamlet of S'Alguer and more crystal clear Calas, before hiking into the beautiful fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell. Subject to availability you will have two options of hotels including Hotel Garbi (https://www.hotelgarbi.com/en/hotel-costa-brava) or Hotel Sant Roc (https://www.santroc.com/en/el-balco-de-calella).

    Calella de Palafrugell will be your place for two nights and you will have options to eat in the hotels of take a short walk and eat in one of many of our recommended restaurant situated directly on the beach.

    You also have an option to do a shorter Walk where we will transport you to Playa de La Fosca.

  • Enjoy a leisurely day in Calella or embark on an engaging and diverse inland journey. This circular walk offers a range of attractions, including the beautiful Botanical Gardens at Cap Roig, situated on a terraced hillside with breathtaking views of the sea. In addition the walk will visit ruins of Iberian settlements on the hills behind, Old Catalan Farmhouses and a small known paint studio of Salvador Dali and traverse the vía verde—a former railway route now converted for walkers and cyclists.

    Today is also an optional day to book a tour visiting the local vineyards of Emporda, book a kayaking and snorkelling tour, cycle the vias verde, boat trip on the Mediterranean or even visit the Pyrenees for a full day hiking to a secret waterfall 1hr 30 min away.   • Calella de Palafrugell to Platja d'Aiguablava is one of the most spectacular hikes in Spain and takes you through breathtaking scenery. Along the way, you will see some of the most beautiful beaches and coves in Catalonia, as well as stunning views of the Pyrenees. This section of the hike is perfect for nature lovers who want to explore this unique region and its hidden gems. You will pass Cala Pedrosa which is great for a quick swim, then the small fishing village of Tamariu which is a great location for lunch. Immerse yourself in the ideal ambiance for a delectable lunch of fresh fish and a refreshing swim in the sea. Afterward, prepare for a brief walk that concludes with a slight incline towards Aiguablava and the charming Hotel Aigua Blava (https://www.hotelaiguablava.com/en/))

  • Indulge in relaxation at Aiguablava or embark on a captivating journey to the medieval town of Begur, adorned with a picturesque ruined castle that offers splendid views of the sea. Our gps will lead you through tranquil woodland tracks from Begur, allowing you to explore the rugged headland while enjoying the stunning bays of Aiguafreda and Sa Tuna. You'll even find a delightful seafood restaurant along the way, where you can stop for a delicious lunch (lunch excluded in price). We would recommend the lobster, paella & oak-fired fish and the outlook is also stunning sitting directly on the beach.

    If you prefer a shorter option, you can choose to take a taxi (taxi excluded in price) between Aiguablava and Begur.

    We would also recommend to visit the medieval town of Peratallada and only a short 20 min taxi away.

    This walking adventure is generally rated as an easy-moderate level. You'll wander along well-maintained paths and tranquil roads with gentle slopes for about 3-4 hours daily. The longest hike, taking place on Day 3, covers a distance of 15.3km along a straightforward coastal path. On day 5 you’ll also have more elevation at 387m, but is on good paths and quiet roads.

  • We'll equip you with our remarkable GPS App, offering precise navigation, daily guides, and valuable recommendations for dining options. In addition, the App will include detailed route notes; some of the paths are way-marked, ensuring you won't encounter any difficulties in finding your way. The trails encompass a mix of GR routes and local paths

    Our hiking adventure welcomes solo walkers, although a single supplement is applicable. If your party requires single rooms, we'll do our best to accommodate your request; however, securing more than three single rooms in a party can be challenging and may incur a single supplement charge.

    Each morning, relish a complimentary breakfast. Lunch and dinner are not included in your package, affording you the freedom to explore various local dining options. For lunch, you can choose from nearby shops, cafes, or restaurants along your route. Come evening, you have the choice of dining at your accommodation or at nearby restaurants.

  • You have the flexibility to embark on your journey at any time from March through the end of June or from the beginning of September to mid-October, depending on availability. Please note that we do not operate this tour during July and August due to the exceptionally high temperatures during these months difficulty in find available accommodation.

    In our view, the most favorable months for travel are May and September, as they offer pleasant and agreeable temperatures for walking. April and May in particular, showcases vibrant blooms and an abundance of flowers in full splendor.
